« [A Moment of Rememberance] »

When I was waiting in the airport for Mydaniel to pick me up I overheard a conversation between a little girl and what I will assume was her father, they spoke english and a dialect I am not sure of, maybe Hindi.

Anyway in broken english the little girl asked when her mother was getting there and the father said 'soon the plane must be delayed' and the little girl said and I kid you not 'Maybe it was bombed'.

I was shocked, there should never be a time where a seven year old has it come to mind her mother was blown up while flying, I was sad for her and for the world we live in. Even more so I was shocked with her fathers response instead of reassuring her that her mother was ok he grabbed her arm and dragged her off.

I can see why he did it, if I were East Indian I would not want my children talking of airplane bombs but still it was somewhat of a twisted innocent remark.

So we sit here today two years after the Trade Centres fell, There is still conflict in the middle east, people are starving and dying they are without food or proper eduacation while the weapons of destruction lie out of American reach we are told.

I want to live in a world where seven year olds don't worry their mothers were bombed while flying, where men don't have to worry they will be associated with terrorism because of their cultural and racial backgrounds.

I hate the news and the tv telling us we have forgotten, I doubt anyone will ever forget, I know where I was when it happeded, I know where I was last year and I will remember today.

Country music be damned, if I hear one more song about war and getting even I will be sick.
