« [Oh my penpal] »

I recieved an email today from one of my friends, a friend I have had since I was eleven years old, a friend who comiserated over all my teenage angst and boyfriend issues, who mourned the loss of my childhood with me due to the wraith of puberty. A friend who supported me through the first two months of my university education when I was so far away from what was normal. A friend I have never met or spoken too. Yeap gather round and I will tell you a story about the time when paper letters were exchanged.

My penpal A and I were buddied up together when our Catholic schools decided to support a 'Canada Days Penpal' exchange, so we would learn more about how other cities celebrated our great country. I remember that everyone wanted Calgary because way back then the Montreal Canadians an the Calgary Flames were battling it out for the Stanley Cup ( oh how very Canadian, pooh on the Superbowl, this was the Stanley Cup playoffs man)

Anyway, as slow as it all goes, we weren't given our penpal letters till the next school year, I still wrote my penpal and told her I would like to exchange letters, and thats how it all started, it was ummm 1987, so we have been writing for 15 years, I thought we lost track of one another two years ago for good, but today I recieved an email, which is just nice
